Every day is International Women’s Day

March 8, 2016 |

Yesterday, we plotted, celebrated, and strategized on the future for women’s rights and economic justice. Today, we want to make sure to continue the conversation — because after all, every day is International Women’s Day. So much more work is needed after March 8th to carry these conversations and strategies forward, if we truly want to see the change in the world that we seek.

One way to do that is to carry the messages from what we’ve learned, far and wide. So we’ve hired the nationally syndicated cartoonist Jen Sorensen to illustrate some the most impactful parts of our conversations and deepest learnings. (Not to mention further elevate the voices of the incredible women who were in the room.)

Melissa Harris-Perry: “When talking about women, we need to ask ourselves, ‘Women where? Women when? What women?…Do we really need the category of ‘women’?”

Alicia Garza: “What’s really galvanizing young people is the possibility that we can see freedom in our lifetime.”

Reema Nanavaty: “Poverty is a form of violence with the consent of society.”
